Weather presenter Steve Jacobs leaves Nine after being axed from Today

Weather presenter Steve Jacobs leaves Nine after being axed from Today – as the rest of the former team land new roles within the network

Weatherman Steve Jacobs is set to leave Nine after 13 years with the network.

Following the Today show’s latest shake-up, the 52-year-old is the only axed star from the breakfast program not to have a new role across the station announced.

It was revealed on Wednesday that Steve had been ousted from Today, along with hosts Deborah Knight and Georgie Gardner, and newsreader Tom Steinfort.

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, a Nine spokesperson said: ‘Stevie will be leaving Nine but we hope to work on another project with him very soon.’

Steve’s former Today colleagues will all be redeployed across the network.

Georgie will present weekend news, Deborah Knight will host Afternoons on 2GB/4BC, which is owned by Nine, and Tom Steinfort will rejoin 60 Minutes.

Entertainment reporter Brooke Boney will remain on the Today show.

In 2020, Brooke will be joined by new hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon, newsreader Tracy Vo, weatherman Tim Davies and sports reporter Alex Cullen.

Steve first started working as on Today an on-location weather presenter in 2005.

He briefly presented weather on Nine News Melbourne in 2009, and announced he was leaving Today in 2016 to spend more time with his family.

The presenter returned to Nine in 2017 as Weekend Today’s weather presenter, before filling in for Natalia Cooper on Today in 2018.

He then joined Today as their full time weather presenter in January, 2019.

Steve was previously married to TV presenter Rosie Jacobs, who is the mother of his two daughters, Isabella and Francesca, but they separated in 2017.

They split just months after relocating to Vanuatu in what friends described at the time as a ‘last-ditch attempt’ to save their struggling seven-year marriage.

‘I think there were a few people who sensed something was up when they moved to Vanuatu,’ a friend told Daily Mail Australia in 2018.

In October, the weatherman Steve enjoyed a boozy, and very flirty, date with a single mother ‘he met at his daughter’s school’ at the park.
