Channel Nine’s Shelly Horton, 46, reveals her ‘exhausting’ weight battle after gastric band surgery, fat freezing AND liposuction

Shelly Horton has revealed her ongoing battle with fluctuating weight, after resorting to gastric band surgery, liposuction and fat freezing over the past 10 years.

The Channel Nine presenter and columnist, 46, shared a candid post to Instagram on Sunday in which she reflected on her body struggles.

‘I lost 10kg one year then put on 10kg the next year, pretty much as clockwork for ten years,’ began the former Talking Married host.

Shelly continued: ‘I over exercised, under exercised, over ate, fasted, had lap banding then had it removed. Had lipo and fat freezing.

‘Honestly my weight battle is exhausting. Plus I had spinal surgery. It’s a mind f**k. I had my first anxiety attack, [and] I had a friend congratulate me for only having one considering the pace I work at, and the industry I chose.’

In her post, Shelly also revealed how she had gone from being divorced, lonely and hesitant about new relationships to meeting the ‘love of her life’ six years ago.

In 2017, Shelly penned an essay for 9Honey in which she recalled undergoing gastric band surgery in 2013, after tipping the scales at 92kg and being classified as obese.

‘I convinced myself my failure was a lack of self-control and the best answer was to take that option away and have gastric lap banding,’ she wrote at the time.

‘I was so focused on this being the answer to my weight problem that I hadn’t acknowledged it was major abdominal surgery.

‘The procedure works by inserting a silicon band around the upper part of your stomach that can be filled with liquid to tighten it, creating just a small pouch to hold food.’

Shelly admitted she had struggled to adjust to life post-surgery and found herself constantly vomiting because of her liquid diet during recovery.

Six months later, having lost just 4.5kg, she had the surgery reversed.

Her weight continued to fluctuate and Shelly was eventually diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2017, at the age of 44.

She has since lost an impressive 13kg thanks to intermittent fasting, which involves limiting the hours during the day in which she eats food.
